"Iyer Mess was started in the year 1959 and has been the family business for the Iyer's", says its present owner Venkatesh Iyer. It has withstood the test of times where everything else has changed around becoming bigger and fancier but this place remains true to its roots and culture. Iyer Mess serves banana leaf meals for lunch and dinner - sambhar, rasam, vegetables, pickle and curd. The Rasam is one among the most sought after delicacies which the Iyers prepare. And only on Sundays, the customers' appetite is treated with Majjige Huli and Paysam.
