The 100-year-old, Hameedi Confectionery in Hyderabad was started by Mohammed Hussain (Turkish) at the age of fifteen. It was established in the early nineteenth century and the sweets were first tasted by the Nizam, who got so impressed that he announced the shop to be named after the Turkish last king, Hameedi. Since then, it is Hyderabad's sweet lover's paradise. It is known for being a one-stop shop for all your sweet cravings. The most special sweet served here is the Jouzi Halwa - made of jouzi (nutmeg), wheat, milk and sweetened with saffron in pure desi ghee. The other classics are Badam Halwa, Motichoor Ladoo and Barfi.
