THE STORY
Madras Café is one of the most iconic eateries in Mumbai. This no-frills eatery was Raj Kapoor's favourite and continues to be for the locals too. Madras Cafe in Matunga, Mumbai, is a two-floor, white-colored cafe, a well-known spot offering traditional South Indian eats and coffee in a lively setting. It celebrated its 75th Anniversary in November, 2015. To celebrate the completion of 75 years, Madras Cafe took all of its customers by a pleasant surprise. In the morning hours, all items were sold at 1940 rates. Idlis and dosas were sold for less than a rupee and coffee for one rupee. Madras Cafe's most popular items include the ‘Idli Butter Pudi’ and the ‘Madras Missal.’ Also suggested are Bisi bele bhaath, rasam vada, Dahi bhaath. It is the finest in its category as it continues to draw regulars with its consistent quality.
