Mathsya in Chennai was established in the early 1900's and the business is now run by Mr Ram Bhat. It is one of Chennai's oldest vegetarian restaurants serving authentic South-Indian food. Tracing its history, Mathsya was known by the names Udupi Krishna Bhavan and Udipi Home. Though it started off as a South-Indian restaurant, they were the first ones to introduce North-Indian vegetarian cuisine in Chennai. Udupi thali and Rasam Vadai have always been the special items here. Other hits include Thandai, Masala Kulcha, Meetha Naan, Pindi Chole and other Chinese dishes.
