What greets me once I reach the Punjabi Food Corner in JP Nagar, Bangalore, is the sweet sound of the Punjabi language and the smell of roasted Kulchas. I head in to find out that it was started about eleven months ago by Ms Mamta Arora and her husband, who migrated to Bangalore from Amritsar about 7 years ago. It seems to me that the whole family manages it together as a team, to make real, Punjabi food available to everybody in the locality. 'I started missing real, home-cooked Punjabi food - and found no place where I could savor it. And that is the reason this place was born!', says Ms Arora, with a smile on her face. The most popular dish of the Punjabi Food Corner is the Amritsari Kulcha, topped with a cube of butter and served with Chole. What first started as the Punjabi Snacks Corner located at the end of the same road, evolved into this little eat out that serves Punjabi Meals. There is a subtle difference in the taste of food here, in comparison with other North Indian outlets of Bangalore.
  • The lunch and dinner are prepared fresh, which is why one is suggested to be there after 12:00 PM for lunch and after about 7:00 PM for dinner. But other items are served during open hours of the outlet.
  • If one has an appetite true to a Punjabi, I'd suggest trying the Bhalle Bhalle Thali.
  • They also have a free home delivery service.
