From the year it was established in 1948 by the Gupta family, Ratna Cafe is one of the longest standing South-Indian fast food restaurant chains in Chennai. Being a native of Uttar Pradesh, Triloknath Gupta started this chain and was later taken over by his nephew, Rajendra Gupta in the year 2002. Originally named Ratna Cafe, it was re-branded as Triplicane Ratna Cafe after it started operating in various parts of the city. Since the time it started, Ratna's trump card has been its Sambhar-soaked Idli. And the other must-try items are Ghee Podi Idli, Sambhar-vada, and Filter Coffee.
