An authentic, vegetarian Punjabi food joint, Sai Punjabi Rasoi in Colva is a north-Indian delight. Started by Vipin Vohra on Colva Beach Road in 2005, the outlet became quite popular. When the lease ran out, Vipin had to move it to its current location, a little off the main beach approach road in Colva.
Vipin’s is an interesting story. He is a painter who used to paint on ceramic tiles, originally from Delhi. But when business was not doing as well as he would have liked, he took a trip to Shirdi and then came to Goa with a friend to explore business opportunities. He credits Shirdi Sai Baba for his success, saying that settling down in Goa is almost like a miracle for him. He enjoys cooking and used to cook at home. In Goa he noticed a need for a vegetarian, Punjabi food joint and started Shri Sai Punjabi Rasoi. Though the simple restaurant sees its share of ups and downs, he says he is fully satisfied with where he is today, even though he is on rent.
The food is authentic – dal, a variety of sabzi, tandoori items and all sorts of breads.
