Srinivasa Condiment Stores, popularly known as Subamma was started in 1947 by a spirited lady by that name. Today, three generations down the line, it is still known by her name though her grandson Karthik runs it. An interesting store, it sells a wide variety of dry items starting from powders for making sambhar, rasam, puliogare, podi, bisi bele bhath, vangi bhath etc. There are also special powders without salt and oil to be used by the elderly. A huge range of snacks is perhaps one of their key draws – chakli, murukku, nippat, kodbele, along with fresh items such as cooked rice sevai, chappati etc. They even have a special ragi powder to be had with milk, which is good for children.
